Do you have a group discount?
Absolutely! Enjoy an afternoon or evening of music with friends and take 20% off the regular ticket price (for groups of 10 or more). Bring your corporate group, school group, civic, church, alumni or community organization to the MSO! Call 507-625-8880 to arrange for tickets ahead of time.
What should I wear to an MSO performance?
There is no dress code! Most people opt for business casual, but some people enjoy dressing up and making their MSO concert experience a special event. This time is for you, and we want you to be comfortable.
How long do most concerts last?
Our Subscription Series concerts last about two hours, including a 15 minute intermission. Our Family Series concerts last approximately one hour.
When do I applaud?
We love your enthusiastic applause! At Pops concerts, we encourage applause after every piece. During Classics concerts, it is customary to hold your applause until all movements are complete. We list the number of movements for each work in our concert program.
Do I need to “prepare” for classics concerts in order to appreciate the music?
While you can always enjoy the music as it is performed, you can enhance your concert experience with a better understanding of the background stories behind the music. In the concert program you will find program notes that provide a wealth of information about the composer and the musical selection.
Can I bring my children to concerts?
Introducing children to the spectacular world of classical music is a gift that will last a lifetime. A great way to start is the fun family series, “Viva Vivaldi”. The concerts are designed for short attention spans, most notably the Maestro’s.
How do I buy a gift certificate?
To share the magic of the Mankato Symphony Orchestra with friends, family, and colleagues, gift certificates are available in any denomination. Call the Twin Rivers Box Office at 507-387-1008 to learn more.
What if I can't use my tickets?
If you cannot use your tickets, we encourage you to give them to a friend or colleague to enjoy. You can also inquire at local social service organizations such as the YMCA Big Brother/Big Sister program, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of Mankato or the YWCA. Your gift would give someone the opportunity to enjoy the power of music.
Are there any other concert hall policies?
Use of cameras or recording devices are prohibited inside the auditorium. Smoking, drinking (other than bottled water), and eating are also not permitted. We also ask that you turn off cell phones, beepers, alarm watches, and anything else that might go “beep” during the concert.
What if I arrive late?
As concerts begin promptly at the scheduled time, latecomers will be seated at a natural break in the music. If you must leave the hall during the performance, please do so quietly. Re-entry while the concert is in progress is at the discretion of the ushers.
