Kris Raaen

Been with the MSO since: 1992

Hometown: Faribault, Mn.

Education: B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College

My day job: Teaching K-4 music and band lessons at Montgomey-Lonsdale Public Schools

Earliest musical memory: Singing Sunday school songs

Favorite thing about performing music: I love the "high" you get after the performance!

Other instruments I play: Saxophones and clarinets, organ and piano

The composition I would most like to perform: Sibelius Symphony #2 as a request from my husband

Best part about being an MSO musician: Being part of a wonderful music family!

What's on my iPod or in my CD player: Jean-Pierre Rampal's "The Romantic Flute"

Other interesting facts(s): I also play in a Quintet of strange instrumentation: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Trombone and Tuba as well as in a big band (Generation II) featuring music of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Glen Miller in which I play the Bari Sax.
