Martha Lindberg
Been with the MSO since: 1993
Hometown: raised in St. Louis, Missouri, now home town is Mankato
Education: M.M. Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, M.S. Educational Technology
My day job: adjunct university teaching
Earliest musical memory: Would only eat peas as a toddler if my Aunt Joan sang, "Eating Goober Peas". "Peas, peas, peas, peas, eating goober peas. Goodness, how delicious, eating goober peas."
Favorite thing about performing music: It is inspiring to present great art to the public. Some people do not know that art music is for everyone.
Other instruments I play: Flute, piccolo, recorder, guitar, handbells
The composition I would most like to perform: Dvorak Symphony No. 5
Best part about being an MSO musician: Being part of a group that communicates truth and beauty. Also working with Ken Freed. Don't print that. He might think I'm buttering him up.
What’s on my iPod: symphonic, jazz, handbell music, Children's Chorus past programs and Amy Kortuem's harp albums
Other interesting facts(s): Two contract tours as a road warrior doing network maintenance for IBM. Listen to Classical music a lot on the road. Also I try to grow as many flowers as possible.
