SungAe Song was born in South Korea and she has been studying flute for 24 years. She won prizes in the various Music competitions in South Korea. She had a debut concert for outstanding students who were chosen by faculty among various universities in Seoul when she studied in SungShin Women’s University in 2003. She also had a professional career as Guest Principal Flutist of Seoul Academy Orchestra, SeongNam Philharmonic Orchestra, Gwacheon Symphony Orchestra and various orchestras and as a teacher for 4 years immediately following her graduation from SungShin Women’s University. She decided to study abroad to become an outstanding flutist and she obtained Master of Music degree and Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College the New School for Music in New York for 4 years with Judith Mendenhall. While studying in Mannes College, she was participated in various masterclasses and music festivals with Jeanne Baxtresser, Bradley Garner, Karl-Heinz Schütz and many famous flutists, and she had many recitals and various concerts with chamber ensemble and orchestras. She got a first prize in New York Artists International Competition and had winners concert at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in NYC.
Currently, she is a candidate of Doctor of Musical Arts at University of Minnesota with Immanuel Davis. She is one of director members in the Korean Flutists Society and the Korean Flutists Association.
